Name: Valerie Christabel Hariko

Class: XII IPS 1 (35)

Hi guys welcome back to my blog!πŸ˜‰. In this post I want to discuss about one type of text that must be understood by English learner in Indonesia, that is procedure text. Have you learn this type of text in your school? I am sure most of students that like English lesson have been familiar with this kind of text, right?😊

Before I explain about this text, I want to ask you, Do you like cooking? Cooking is something that usually we do every day, especially for woman. Cooking can be enjoyable activity if we like it but there are some people lazy to cook or even afraid because they cannot make delicious food. To help them, people who cannot cook can see recipes. Recipes are very helpful. When we want to make delicious food, we need recipe because there are steps that can lead us to do it. Recipe is an example of procedure text.

Another example is book instruction. When you buy a new TV or a new phone cell, there must be a book instruction in the box. Book instruction is also one of the examples of procedure text. When you want to download something from the internet, there are steps before we do that. Those steps are also procedure text. Then, what is procedure text actually?

Make Procedure Text: HOW TO DO

So this is the procedure text that I make:

How To Do Makeup For Beginners

1. Start with clean skin. Wash with a gentle cleanser or simply use a toner to wipe away any impurities from your skin.

2. Apply a light moisturizer. This will keep your skin from getting too oily during the day, and will help moisturize any dry patches on your skin. If you know you have oily skin don't skip moisturizer entirely; instead try a gel based formula that your skin will absorb quickly.

3. Dab on a tinted moisturizer or a light foundation to your skin. Apply just a few spots with your fingers to your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin, then blend with fingers, or a foundation brush, working the spots outwards from the center in all directions.

4. Put a little concealer under the eyes. Use a small pointed brush to dot a bit where under-eye circles are darkest, usually at the inner and outer corners of the eye. Add a speck to other blemishes that aren't covered by the foundation and blend into the skin.

5. Set the concealer and moisturizer with a translucent powder. Apply it to your face, ideally using a velvet-y powder puff (as opposed to a powder brush, as that leaves a lot of loose powder) in a pressing motion.

6. Apply an eyeshadow of your choice to your eyelid. For beginners, try a single neutral shade like taupe or aubergine. Use a rounded shadow brush or your finger and make quick, short swipes across the lid, working your way up to the brow bone.

7. Apply eyeliner. Use a black or brown pencil and apply along the rim of your upper lash line in short strokes.

8. Curl your lashes. Place a lash curler at the base of your upper eyelashes (along the lid) and press for five seconds. After this, apply mascara. Apply to the upper and lower lashes with the tip of the wand oriented towards the outer corner of your eye.

9. Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. Smile as you do this so you can clearly see where the apples are. Dab on the blush and blend upwards towards your temples.

10. Apply lipstick or lip gloss. Pucker your lips like you're about to plant a kiss and dab the lip color to the center of your upper and lower lip. This first application can be straight from the tube; then, use your fingers to blend outwards, adding color with your fingertips as needed.

11. Check yourself in bright light - daylight if possible - to make sure everything is blended and beautiful. You're done!

Procedure Text Part III

Make a Procedure Text: HOW TO USE

So this is the procedure text that I make:

How To Use A Liquid Detergent To Treat The Stubborn Stains

If you want to treat stubborn stains with a liquid detergent, please prepare the followings:

2. Normal detergent

3. Water

If you have prepared the appliance and all materials, follow these directions:

1. Pour a small amount of the liquid detergent onto the stain and let it sit for a few minutes.

2. Massage the detergent gently into the material.

3. Place the item in the wash with your normal detergent.

4. Turn on your washing machine and wait until it finishes its washing time.

5. Check whether or not the stains have gone. If the stains are still there, repeat the steps.

What is photosynthesis? Photosynthesis is a food-making process that occurs in green plants. It is the chief function of leaves. The word photosynthesis means putting together with light. Green plants use energy from light to combine carbon dioxide and water to make sugar and other chemical compounds.

How is the light used in photosynthesis?

The light used in photosynthesis is absorbed by a green pigment called chlorophyll. Each food-making cell in a plant leaf contains chlorophyll in small bodies called chloroplasts. In chloroplast, light energy causes water drawn form the soil to split into hydrogen and oxygen.

What are the steps of photosynthesis process? Let me tell you the process of photosynthesis, in a series of complicated steps, the hydrogen combines with carbon dioxide from the air, forming a simple sugar. Oxygen from the water molecules is given off in the process. From sugar together with nitrogen, sulphur, and phosporus from the soil-green plants can make starch, fat, protein, vitamins, and other complex compounds essential for life. Photosynthesis provides the chemical energy that is needed to produced these compounds.

This text for number 4-5

The sense of taste is one of a person’s five senses. We taste with the help of taste-buds in the tongue.

There are four main kinds of taste: sweet, sour, salty, and bitter. All other tastes are just mixtures of two or more of these main types.

The surface of the tongue has more than fifteen thousand taste-buds (or cells). These are connected to the brain by special nerves which send the so-called ‘tastes messages.

When the tongue comes into contact with food of any kind, the taste-buds will pick up the taste. The nerves then send a message to the brain. This will make us aware of the taste. All this happens in just a few seconds.

There are four kinds of taste-buds, each of which is sensitive to only a particular taste. These four groups are located in different parts of the tongue.

The taste-buds for salty and sweet tastes are found round the tip of the tongue and along its sides. Sour tastes can be picked up only at the sides of the tongue. The taste-buds of the bitter taste are found at the innermost edge of the tongue. There are taste-buds at the centre of the tongue.

The senses of smell and sight can affect taste. The good smell of food increases its taste. Similarly, attractive colours can make food appear tastier and more delicious. If food does not smell good or is dull-coloured, it will look tasty and may not taste good at all.

Very hot or cold sensations can make the taste-buds insensitive. Food that is too hot or too cold, when placed in the mouth, will have no tastes at all.

4. When we eat very hot or cold food ……..

A. the food will lose its taste

B. the food won’t smell good

C. the taste of the food increases

D. the taste-buds will be sensitive

E. the taste-buds will be very, responsive

Answer: A. the food will lose its taste

5. The senses of smell and sight ……..

A. increase the taste of the food

B. affect the taste of the food

C. make food more delicious

D. make the food look good

Answer: B. affect the taste of the food
