Hi guys! Today I willl explain about National Day in Indonesia and we called as an historical event too. Yes that's Sumpah Pemuda. So, let's get start it!

Explanation About Sumpah Pemuda

October 28 is celebrated as Youth Pledge Day (Sumpah Pemuda) in Indonesia every year. It is a special day and has a deep meaning for the Indonesian people.

On that day, the Indonesian nation remembers the history of unity and integrity which was summarized in the Youth Pledge. The pledge was made on October 28, 1928, Indonesian youths vowed to have one homeland, one nation, and one language: Indonesia.

Looking at the history of the Youth Pledge, we need to remember the Second Youth Congress, on October 28, 1928. The congress lasted for two days, namely on 27 and 28 October 1928 in Jakarta, which at that time was still called Batavia.

On this historic day, the participants of the Second Youth Congress agreed to formulate three promises which were later referred to as the Youth Pledge. The contents of the Youth Pledge are as follows:

Kami putra dan putri Indonesia, mengaku bertumpah darah yang satu, tanah air Indonesia.

Kami putra dan putri Indonesia, mengaku berbangsa yang satu, bangsa Indonesia.

Kami putra dan putri Indonesia, menjunjung bahasa persatuan, bahasa Indonesia.

The Youth Pledge gives an awareness that the differences of the Indonesian people can be united as Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, which means “different but still one”. In addition, the Youth Pledge also contains many positive values that can be applied in everyday life, such as patriotism, mutual cooperation, deliberation for consensus, love for the country, kinship, unity, oneness and harmony.

The Youth Pledge should be used as an inspiration for the young generation of Indonesia today, to take Indonesia to a better direction. (from various sources)
